Here's a rare find. A very early George Varney 10' 3/2 fly rod, made for William Read & Sons in Boston.
This 3pc 2 tip rounded Calcutta rod is full length, and features tiny 1/16" cork grip slices, full intermediates and ring guides.
Has Varney's patent marked ferrules. Other then 2 guides that need a re-wrap, this rod appears to be completely original.
Very rare opportunity to acquire a Varney rod that may even be for his Central Valley days before Montague.
